SRLF-French Intensive Care Society - SRLF Research Fellowships

What you get

You will receive a research grant of up to 30,000 EUR to carry out an independent research project in the field of intensive care medicine. You must spend the funds within two years of signing the grant agreement. The funding comes from the Société de Réanimation de Langue Française (SRLF), the French professional association for intensive care medicine and resuscitation. These are a number of grants, not a single award. The highest amounts are 30,000 EUR for a clinical project and 30,000 EUR for a project in the field of respiratory medicine. Others are worth 20,000 EUR, 15,000 EUR or 10,000 EUR, depending on the topic and your professional field. In addition, there are grants of 15,000 EUR for the 2th year of a Master’s degree, for research abroad and for hosting a colleague from another country.

Who can apply

• Profession: You are a doctor or a member of the paramedical profession, such as a nurse or a physiotherapist, and you work in the intensive care unit.
• Membership: You have been a member of the SRLF for at least 12 months and have paid your membership fees at the time of applying.
• Field: Your project relates to intensive care medicine. Some funding schemes are linked to a specific topic, such as projects in the fields of respiratory diseases, metabolic disorders or kidney diseases, or to a specific profession, such as the funding scheme intended exclusively for physiotherapists.
• Supervisor: Your project mentor (the experienced colleague supervising your research) has been a member of the SRLF for at least 5 consecutive years.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The separate ‘Bourse Accueil’ scholarship is aimed at members of a French-speaking society for intensive care medicine in their respective countries who fall under 40.
• One project only: You may only apply for one funding category at a time.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the ‘Bourses’ section of your personal member account on the SRLF website. All documents must be in French. For round 2026, the submission period begins on 18 February 2026 and ends on 17 March 2026 at 9:00; the jury’s decision will be announced in May 2026. Applications for the Antoine Rabbat Scholarship must be submitted separately via the Fondation du Souffle.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is narrowly defined: you must already be working in French intensive care medicine and have been a member of the SRLF for at least one year. This limits the pool of applicants to this specific field. Conversely, you will be competing in a genuine selection process for a limited number of grants, with the quality of your research project being the decisive factor. If you meet the professional and membership requirements and submit a well-designed project with a qualified mentor, your prospects are good.
