About this grant / loan
What you get
You will receive a one-off cash payment if you find yourself in temporary financial difficulty whilst studying. There is no set amount. A committee will assess your situation and decide whether assistance will be granted and, if so, how much. The money comes from Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 University and is drawn from its Student Life Fund (FSDIE), which is financed by the Campus Life Contribution (CVEC) paid by students. It supplements any social benefits you may already be receiving from the CROUS, the French student support organisation. This is emergency assistance for a difficult period, not a regular monthly grant.
Who can apply
- University: You are a student at Paul Valéry University in Montpellier 3 in France.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Financial need: You are currently facing a temporary financial or social hardship and need help to get back on your feet.
How to apply
Please contact a CROUS social worker by email, stating your name, your place of study, your telephone number and a brief description of your situation. The social worker will prepare your case for the committee on an anonymous basis. The committee meets approximately once a month and decides whether to award the grant. There is no annual application deadline, so you can submit your application whenever the need arises.
How realistic are your chances?
This support is intended exclusively for students at the University of Montpellier 3 who find themselves in a genuine, temporary financial hardship; as a result, the number of beneficiaries is small. The decision depends on your proven circumstances, not on your grades or a well-crafted application. If you can clearly explain your situation, your chances of receiving support are quite good. The amount awarded is determined on a case-by-case basis, and there is no guaranteed amount; you should therefore apply as soon as the problem arises.
