Collectivité de Corse - Grants for applicants to Grandes Écoles

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant of up to 800 EUR for the current academic year, paid by the Corsican Regional Authority (Collectivité de Corse). The exact amount depends on your family quotient (quotient familial, a figure calculated by the French tax authorities based on household income and household size) and your living arrangements:

• Non-scholarship students boarding at the school: 800 EUR, 500 EUR or 250 EUR, in descending order across the tax brackets 0–10,000 / 10,001–20,000 / 20,001–25,000 EUR.
• Non-scholarship students living off-campus: 200 EUR, 150 EUR or 100 EUR across the same three bands.
• Students already on a state grant: flat rate of 600 EUR.

Who can apply

• Home ties: You have paid tax in Corsica over the last three years.
• Age: It is currently 28 in the month of 31 of the current year.
• Programme: You are enrolled on a top-tier degree programme in France, for example on a preparatory course for the Grandes Écoles (CPGE, the intensive two-year course that prepares you for the entrance examinations to France’s elite higher education institutions).
• Where you study: You are studying in France. Courses taken abroad are not recognised.
• Field of study: All subject areas within the ‘Excellence Track’ programme are eligible; however, medical students (formerly PASS/LAS) are not eligible to apply.
• Employment status: You are not registered with Pôle Emploi (the French employment agency) and do not receive any training allowances.
• No double funding: You are not in receipt of either the grant for scholarship holders at the start of the academic year (including at the University of Corsica) or the ‘Vie Étudiante’ grant for non-scholarship holders.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the GHJUVENTU platform. The application period runs from 25 July to 31 October. You will need to upload your enrolment certificates, tax assessment notices, your ID and a personal statement outlining your study plan.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very strictly defined. You must have been a tax resident in Corsica for three years, be under 28 years of age, and be studying a specific top-tier degree course in France. As a result, the number of eligible applicants remains small. If you clearly meet these conditions and your family quotient falls within the eligible ranges, your prospects are good. The amount is determined by a fixed scale rather than a selection process, so it is most important to submit your application between July and October.
