IPI-MED grant for general medicine interns in Corsica

For your placement as a junior doctor in general practice in Corsica, you will receive base grant of 2,500 EUR. If part of your placement takes place in an area with poor medical provision, you will receive an additional 500 EUR. If the entire placement takes place in such an area, the allowance increases to 1,000 EUR. Your travel expenses to the compulsory seminars in Nice or Marseille will also be covered at the domestic rate. The funding is provided by the Territorial Community of Corsica in collaboration with the University of Corsica and the medical faculties of Aix-Marseille and Nice. The aim is to encourage young doctors to undertake their training on the island and subsequently set up practice there.

Who can apply

• Degree stage: You are a junior doctor in general practice, i.e. a medical student undertaking practical training under supervision.
• Placement: You are undertaking a work placement at level 1 and/or level 2 in Corsica.
• Field of study: General practice only.
• Where you go: The place of work is in Corsica. You will receive a higher grant if the area in question has poor medical provision.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You must collect the application documents from the Institut Universitaire de Santé (IUS) in Corte, which is part of the University of Corsica, and return them there. Please submit them to your supervising professional no later than one month after the start of your placement.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a small group: junior doctors specialising in general practice who are undertaking a placement in Corsica. There are only a few applicants. If you meet these criteria and apply within the one-month window following the start of your placement, your chances are good. Furthermore, if you are undertaking your placement in a medically underserved region, the amount of funding you receive will be higher.
