About this scholarship
Besnard de Quelen Study Scholarship
You will receive 2,500 EUR for a study or research placement abroad, in a country that will help you develop your expertise in your field. You will receive 75% of the amount as soon as you have signed the agreement, and the remaining 25% upon your return and after submitting a report. The scholarship is awarded by the Fondation du Cnam in Paris. Up to six scholarships are awarded each year.
Who can apply
- Field of study: You are currently studying or have completed a degree in architecture, urban planning, engineering or environmental sciences. Students and course participants at the CNAM studying construction-related subjects are also eligible to apply.
- Level: You are either still studying or have already completed your degree.
- Where you go: Your trip must be abroad, specifically to a country that is relevant to your professional development.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Age: No age limit.
- Who cannot apply: Members of the Foundation’s Board or the jury.
How to apply
You should apply via an online form and upload your application documents as a PDF file of no more than eight A4 pages. The application deadline is 1 April. A letter of recommendation from a professor is an advantage, but not essential. If your application is not written in French, please include a French translation. A panel will select the winners based on the documents submitted; there will be no interview.
How realistic are your chances?
This award has quite strict eligibility criteria. You must have a background in architecture, urban planning, engineering or environmental sciences, as well as a specific plan for a trip abroad that will advance your field of specialisation. With only six scholarships awarded each year, competition is fierce; however, due to the specific thematic focus, the pool of applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. If your field of specialisation is a clear match and you submit a convincing, well-reasoned travel project, your chances are good.
