Benefit

You will receive a one-off emergency payment if you are studying at the Tarn-et-Garonne University Centre and find yourself in serious financial difficulty. The amount is not fixed. It depends on your circumstances and is paid from the funds available. This is emergency assistance, not a regular grant, and you can only receive it once per academic year. It is intended to help you overcome a sudden setback that is preventing you from continuing your studies and leading a normal life. The funds come from the General Council (Conseil Départemental) of Tarn-et-Garonne, the local authority for this French département.

Eligibility

• University: You are studying at the Tarn-et-Garonne University Centre.
• Local ties: You’re from Tarn-et-Garonne, or your parents live there.
• Financial need: You are facing serious financial difficulties – for example, following an accident or a life-changing event – which are making it hard for you to study and lead a decent life.
• Field of study: Anyone interested is welcome to apply.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

First, contact the Student Finance Office to submit your application. You should then submit all the necessary documents: proof of enrolment, a letter explaining your situation, and a report from a social worker. Your application will be assessed as soon as all the necessary documents have been received; there is therefore no fixed deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very strictly defined. You must be studying at a specific university, have a local connection to the Tarn-et-Garonne department and demonstrate genuine financial hardship, which means that very few people apply for it. If you clearly meet these conditions and can substantiate your need with a report from a social worker, your chances are good. As the grant is funded from a limited budget, a well-reasoned application is crucial.
