Traineeship grant from the Seine-Saint-Denis department

You will receive 1,000 EUR net per month for 24 months, which covers the last two years of your specialist training in general practice. The Département of Seine-Saint-Denis, a local authority near Paris, funds the scholarship to staff its maternal and child health service (PMI, Protection Maternelle et Infantile). In each round of awards, 5 grants are awarded. In return, you undertake to work as a PMI doctor in the département for at least 4 years. You must commence your duties no later than 6 months after receiving your final payment and following the approval of your final thesis.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a junior doctor in general practice (third cycle of the French medical degree) and are in the final two years of your specialist training.
• Field of study: General practice only.
• Commitment: You are prepared to work for at least 4 years as a doctor in the department’s maternal and child health (PMI) unit after completing your studies.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a small target group: only junior doctors specialising in general practice who are in their final two years of training and who agree to a 4-year PMI commitment are eligible to apply. This keeps the pool of applicants small. If you clearly fit this profile and are genuinely prepared to enter into the 4-year commitment, your chances are good. Please consider the long-term service commitment carefully, as it is the key condition for receiving the grant.
