About this award / prize
Amifac Award
You will receive a one-off prize of about 1,000 EUR for original scientific work in the fields of pharmacy and biology. This award recognises research projects that have already been completed, such as a final-year dissertation or a published scientific paper, rather than providing a monthly scholarship. The ‘Académie nationale de Pharmacie’ in Paris awards this prize annually, funded by the ‘Société des Amis des Facultés de Pharmacie de Paris’ (AMIFAC Pharma). A recent winner from the University of Rennes was honoured for his work on palliative care for Parkinson’s disease. The prize is presented during the Academy’s annual ceremony, which usually takes place in December.
Who can apply
- Nationality: You are French.
- Who you are: Pharmacists and pharmacy students will be given priority. Co-authors who have collaborated on the paper may apply jointly.
- Field: Your work makes an original contribution to pharmacy or biology.
- Recency: Your work was published less than 3 years before you applied.
- Language: Your work is written in French or English.
- Where you study: Any university will do.
- One prize rule: Only one Academy Prize may be applied for per year. The same work may be submitted for a particular prize no more than twice. Members of the Academy are ineligible to apply.
How to apply
Please email your full application documents to the Academy’s secretariat. The closing date for entries is 4 September (at midnight). A jury from the Academy will select the winner.
How realistic are your chances?
The eligibility criteria for this prize are narrowly defined: candidates must be French nationals, working in the field of pharmacy or biology, and have recent research findings that are outstanding enough to stand out. This keeps the pool of eligible candidates small. As only one or a few authors are honoured each year, competition at the top is fierce. If your published work clearly falls within the fields of pharmacy and biology and is genuinely original, a well-prepared application stands a real chance of success.
