Jean Goubin Scholarship at Rennes School of Business

You will receive a one-off grant to help fund your first year of study at the Rennes School of Business (RSB) in France. The Fondation Jean Goubin will determine the exact amount for each student once your application has been received. The info box shows an amount of approximately 1,000 EUR. The money can be used directly to pay your tuition fees or paid out to you. The Breton entrepreneur Jean Goubin founded the foundation in 2007 to enable talented students from low-income families to pursue higher education. It awards around 30 scholarships annually to various higher education institutions in the region.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled in the first year of the ‘Programme Grande École’ (PGE 1), the flagship management programme at the Rennes School of Business.
• Field of study: Business and Management, as this is a degree programme at a business school.
• Financial need: Your parents did not pay any income tax in the year 2024, and you are already receiving a CROUS grant for the period 2026–27. CROUS is a state-funded student grant in France, awarded on the basis of social criteria such as family income.
• Grades: You’re doing very well at school.
• Where you are from: You are from Brittany or the ‘Grand Ouest’ region, i.e. from the departments 22, 29, 56, 35 or 44.
• Nationality: Applicants of any nationality – whether from France or abroad – may apply, provided they meet the regional and financial requirements.
• Work record: You will be given priority if you can provide evidence of a part-time or holiday job, for example by showing payslips.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the school’s internal RISE web portal under the ‘Scholarships’ menu item. The application deadline is 26 August. A school committee will then shortlist the candidates and forward up to three applications to the Fondation de France, which will make the final decision.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are very strict. You must be in your first year of the PGE programme at a specific university, be from a specified department, and already be receiving a CROUS scholarship. This leaves only a small group of eligible applicants. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of your financial needs as well as any part-time employment, your chances are good.
