About this scholarship

Nestlé Foundation Research Fellowships (Fondation Nestlé France)

You will receive 20,000 EUR for one year to carry out a research project in the field of nutrition. A fellowship here provides one year’s funding to support your research. Each year, the Fondation Nestlé France awards three such fellowships to young researchers working in the field of nutrition and food, whether from a biological, social or humanities perspective. You may carry out the project in France or abroad.

Who can apply

  • Research stage: You are about to complete your PhD (you have been enrolled in a PhD programme for at least two years) or already hold a PhD and would like to gain research experience as a postdoctoral researcher.
  • Lab link: You work at a French research laboratory.
  • Age: You are 35 or younger.
  • Topic: Your project focuses on the topic of nutrition, for example eating behaviour, the sociology of food or the biology of nutrition.
  • No other job: You must not hold any other full-time post whilst managing the project.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are working through a French laboratory.

How to apply

You submit your project as part of the foundation’s annual call for proposals. The deadline for submissions is 7 April. A panel will then review the applications and decide who will receive funding.

How realistic are your chances?

Only three scholarships are awarded each year, and each applicant must meet a specific set of criteria: under the age of 35, affiliated with a French laboratory, and either just before or just after completing a PhD in the field of nutritional science. This keeps the pool of applicants small, but the limited number of places means competition is fierce amongst those who qualify. If your project clearly falls within the field of nutritional science and you apply by the deadline, you have a genuine chance of success.
