China Scholarship Council Research Excellence Scholarship

You will receive a comprehensive scholarship package for your PhD studies worth up to 3 years. The University of Nottingham (UK) will waive your tuition fees in full, and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) will pay you a monthly living allowance of approximately 1,110 EUR (in the year 2017/18, this amounted to £950 per month for studies outside London). Up to 10 of these scholarships were awarded. Please note that the scholarship alone did not meet the minimum requirement for a UK student visa at level 4, so you had to cover the difference yourself.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are starting a full-time PhD programme at the University of Nottingham.
• Study offer: You have already been granted admission. This may be unconditional or conditional, provided you have already met the English language requirements, such as IELTS or TOEFL.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines.
• Nationality: You are a citizen of the People’s Republic of China and are regarded as an international student for the purposes of tuition fees.
• CSC criteria: You meet the eligibility criteria set by the China Scholarship Council.
• Home university backing: Your home university in China will nominate you as a CSC candidate or support your application. This is not required if you are already studying abroad or working in China.

How to apply

Once you had received your offer of admission, you could apply via the ‘Scholarships’ section of the MyNottingham portal. The application deadline was 23 February (12:00 UK time).
