About this scholarship

Benefit

This University of Nottingham award covered your full PhD or MPhil tuition fees and added a monthly living allowance of about 1,180 EUR (GBP 1,015) for up to three years. Your funding continued as long as your research progress stayed satisfactory. It was aimed at international doctoral students starting at the Nottingham UK campus.

Eligibility

  • Degree: You were starting a full-time PhD or MPhil (a research master's) at the University of Nottingham, UK campus.
  • Fee status: You counted as an overseas (international) student for fees, not a UK or EU student.
  • Field of study: Any subject except Engineering. Engineering applicants used a separate award, the Dean of Engineering Research Scholarship for International Excellence.
  • Offer in hand: You already held an offer of a place, with your studies starting between 1 October and 1 February.
  • Grades: You had an excellent academic record, since the award was decided on academic merit.

How to apply

Once you had a study offer, you applied through the scholarships section of MyNottingham, the university's online portal. There was one deadline each year (for the 2020 round, 24 April 2020). A committee then chose the winners on academic merit.
