What the DIKTI-NTU scholarship offered

As part of this programme, staff from Indonesian universities were able to undertake postgraduate studies at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the United Kingdom. The costs were covered by Indonesia’s national DIKTI scholarship programme. Most places were earmarked for PhD programmes or other research-based courses, with a smaller number allocated to taught Master’s programmes. As part of the wider DIKTI programme, up to 750 researchers were supported at British universities over a five-year period. NTU ran the programme in collaboration with the Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) and Universities UK International. No specific grant amount was stated on the NTU website, as the funds were disbursed via the central DIKTI programme.

Who could apply

• Your job: They worked in the Indonesian higher education sector as university lecturers, staff members of the DIKTI Ministry or administrative staff at a state university in Indonesia. Regular students were not eligible to apply.
• Nationality: You were from Indonesia.
• Level of study: You have applied for a PhD programme, another research-based programme or a Master’s programme that includes teaching at NTU.
• Field of study: Any subject.

How to apply

Firstly, you applied for your degree programme at NTU and stated that you were a DIKTI candidate. You applied for a research programme via the Graduate School, and for a Master’s programme with taught modules via the DIKTI contact at NTU. Once NTU had offered you a place, you applied separately for funding through the official DIKTI programme.
