About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive up to about 11,700 EUR (up to £10,000) as a one-off grant towards your tuition fees for a face-to-face Master’s degree programme at University of Warwick in England for the year in which you commence your studies. A full-time Master’s degree programme is a postgraduate course based on lectures, seminars and examinations, rather than a research project. If your tuition fees are below the maximum amount, you will only receive the amount that covers your actual fees. The ‘Widening Participation’ team at the University of Warwick will also support you throughout your studies and direct you to other support services you may be eligible for. The programme helps students from under-represented groups to access postgraduate study. The funding cannot be paid as a grant towards your living costs.
Eligibility
- Where you study: You are applying for a place on an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Warwick starting in October 2026 (full-time or part-time).
- Fee status: You pay tuition fees at the UK ‘home’ rate, which means you are considered a UK-based student rather than an international student.
- No master's yet: You do not yet hold a Master’s degree, an integrated Master’s degree, a PhD or an equivalent qualification.
- Course type: Your degree programme is not a diploma, a certificate, a distance-learning course or a short, module-based programme (such as an Executive MBA), as these are not taken into account.
- No full fee waiver: You are not currently eligible for a full exemption from fees, such as under the NHS or a social welfare grant.
- Financial background: As a bachelor’s degree student, you were on a low income. You can provide evidence of this through a maintenance grant, an income-based maintenance loan of a fixed minimum amount, a special support grant, or your status as a refugee or a person under humanitarian protection in the United Kingdom.
- Extra circumstance: You also meet at least one other criterion. For example, you come from one of the most disadvantaged areas, are a former resident of a children’s home, are no longer in contact with your parents, receive disability support, began your degree at the age of 21 or older, or are a carer.
How to apply
First, apply for an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Warwick. You should then submit the separate online scholarship application form. This includes a personal statement of 200 words, in which you explain how the Master’s programme supports your future plans, as well as supporting evidence for each criterion. The application period runs from 18 February to 18 May, and results will be communicated by email in late June or early July. There is no interview; selection is based on your application documents.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding scheme is very narrowly defined: you must be eligible for domestic tuition fees, come from a low-income background and meet at least one additional criterion relating to disadvantage. As a result, the group of those eligible for funding is significantly smaller than for open scholarships. If you clearly meet all three criteria and can provide evidence of this, your chances are good. Awards are decided on a competitive basis, so a compelling, well-documented application is more important than simply meeting the minimum requirements.
