About this scholarship

WBS Scholarships

You will receive full funding for the MRes/PhD programme at Warwick Business School (WBS), which is part of the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. Your tuition fees will be covered in full, either at the UK or international rates. You will also receive an annual living allowance (a fixed living allowance) of approximately EUR 27,000 (around GBP 23,000), as well as a research budget for conferences and workshops. The funding covers the combined MRes and PhD programme, which comprises approximately five years of full-time study on the Warwick campus. Every applicant admitted to the programme will receive this funding; therefore, there is no separate scholarship application form. In return, you will undertake some teaching and related duties amounting to up to 110 hours per year.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are applying for the WBS MRes/PhD programme in the fields of ‘Business & Management’ or ‘Finance & Economics’. It is not possible to apply directly for the PhD programme.
  • Where you study: Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, UK, full-time on-campus programme.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Previous studies: You hold a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, which you have either already completed or are currently studying for. You can provide your final grades in English.
  • Admission tests: For the ‘Finance and Economics’ programme, you will need a GMAT or GRE result; for the ‘Business Administration and Management’ programme, this is optional. You must also meet the WBS language requirement for ‘Band B’ in English.
  • Research proposal: You don’t need one, and you don’t need to find a supervisor before applying.

How to apply

Applications for a place on this degree programme are made via the University of Warwick. You must submit at least one academic transcript, a personal statement, a CV, and your academic transcripts and degree certificates. The application deadline for the September 2026 intake is 11 January 2026; there is no application fee. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

Funding is arranged automatically once you have been admitted. The real challenge, therefore, is securing a place on a highly sought-after PhD programme that attracts applicants from all over the world. Places are limited and there is an interview; therefore, good grades, a compelling personal statement and – for the ‘Finance & Economics’ programme – a strong GMAT or GRE result are crucial. Make sure you apply well in advance of the application deadline, as incomplete applications will be rejected once this deadline has passed.
