GREAT Scholarships at the University of Glasgow

You will receive about 11,500 EUR (£10,000) off your tuition fees for a one-year Master’s programme at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. This is a one-off discount for a single year, not a monthly payment. The university is running this programme in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain campaign, a programme run by the UK government. There are only 5 places available for the 2026/27 academic year.

Who can apply

• Where you study: The University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom.
• Level: A one-year full-time Master’s programme comprising lectures. The Research Master’s (MSc Research) and the MBA are not included.
• Field of study: Virtually every subject area, from computer science and engineering to law and the humanities, provided it is one of the eligible one-year degree programmes comprising lectures and seminars.
• Nationality: You hold a passport issued by Bangladesh, Greece, Kenya, Pakistan or Spain.
• Fee status: For the purposes of calculating tuition fees, you are considered an international or EU student.
• Other funding: This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship, whether from the University of Glasgow or from an external organisation.
• Your background in the subject: You have professional experience in this field or can demonstrate a keen interest in it.
• Admission: You have applied for a place at university, accepted the offer and fulfilled all the associated conditions by the scholarship application deadline.

How to apply

First, apply for a place on a Master’s programme at the University of Glasgow. You will be given an application number and a student registration number. You should then register on the university’s scholarship portal and apply for the GREAT scholarship there. The application deadline is 30 April; all applications will be assessed after this date.

How realistic are your chances?

Only passport holders from five countries are eligible to apply, which means the pool of applicants remains small. However, with only 5 places available, competition amongst those who qualify is still fierce. If you come from an eligible country, are completing a recognised one-year Master’s programme and can demonstrate genuine experience or interest in your field, your chances are good.
