About this scholarship
What the Lancaster Bursary gives you
You get about EUR 1,150 (£1,000) per year of study, paid in two equal instalments each academic year. You keep it every year your household income stays below the threshold, with no fixed limit on the number of years. It is a cash grant from Lancaster University for undergraduate students from lower-income households. You can combine it with the Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship - Home.
Who can apply
- Level: You are studying, or about to start, a full-time undergraduate (bachelor's) degree.
- Where you study: Your degree runs fully on campus at Lancaster University's Bailrigg campus. All full-time undergraduate degrees there count.
- Fee status: You are a Home student, meaning you pay the UK home tuition rate, not the international rate.
- Government funding: You qualify for UK Government funding, and your Student Finance or SAAS application has been income-assessed (they checked your household income).
- Household income: Your household income is under £35,000 per year.
- Subject: Any subject offered as a full-time undergraduate degree on campus.
- Timing: You cannot get it for a repeated year of study, and you cannot delay it to a later start year.
How to apply
There is no separate application. Once you start your course, Lancaster automatically checks who is eligible, using your income-assessed Student Finance or SAAS application. Around mid-October, after you register, eligible students get an email confirming the award and the payment dates.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a competitive award. There is no selection panel and no ranking. If you are a full-time Home undergraduate at the Bailrigg campus, with a household income under £35,000 and an income-assessed Student Finance or SAAS application, you get it automatically. The one thing you must do is complete the income assessment through Student Finance or SAAS, or you will not be picked up.
