What the Warwick Bursary gives you

You get about 585 EUR to 2,925 EUR per academic year (£500 to £2,500) as a grant you never repay, for the whole length of your undergraduate degree. The amount depends on your household income on a sliding scale: about 2,925 EUR (£2,500) if the household income is £25,000 or less, about 1,460 EUR (£1,250) between £25,000 and £35,000, and about 585 EUR (£500) between £35,000 and £42,875. Warwick pays the money in three equal instalments across the year, straight to the bank account you registered with Student Finance. It comes from the University of Warwick's own funding for students from lower-income households.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a full-time undergraduate (Bachelor) student at the University of Warwick.
• Start date: You start your course in September 2025 or later.
• Where you live: You count as a "Home" student for fees and live in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Wales is not covered, as it has its own funding.
• Household income: Your family income is £42,875 or less, checked by the national student finance body.
• Student finance application: You have applied to Student Finance England, Student Finance Northern Ireland or the Student Awards Agency Scotland for income-assessed support. This counts even if you ask for a loan of £0 and only want the income check.
• Subject: All subjects qualify. Medical (MBChB) students in years 2 to 4 must request an income assessment themselves, because it is not done for them automatically.

How to apply

There is no separate application. Once you apply to your student finance body for an income-assessed award, Warwick checks automatically whether you qualify, starting from the end of August each year. If you are eligible, you get an email at the address you registered with your student finance body. If you apply for student finance late, you hear back within 8 weeks of completing that application.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an automatic, need-based award, not a competition. If your household income is £42,875 or below and you meet the residence and course conditions, you receive it without being ranked against anyone. Your main job is to complete your student finance application with an income assessment, because that is what triggers the check. Miss that step and you miss the bursary, even if you would otherwise qualify.
