About this scholarship

Strathclyde Access Bursary

You will receive 1,150 to 3,450 EUR per year (1,000 to 3,000 GBP) for each year of your bachelor’s degree, paid by the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. The exact amount depends on your household income: the lower your family’s income, the higher the payment will be. The money is intended to cover living costs, study materials and travel expenses. Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria will receive this grant, as there is no limit on the number of grants awarded.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are a new full-time undergraduate student and are starting your degree at the University of Strathclyde this academic year.
  • Where you come from: You are from England, Northern Ireland, Wales or the Republic of Ireland.
  • Fees: You will pay the full tuition fee of 9,790 GBP per year. If you are already receiving a scholarship from the faculty that reduces your fees, you cannot apply for this grant.
  • Financial need: Your household income is up to 42,641 GBP (students from Great Britain) or up to 49,464 EUR (Republic of Ireland). This will be checked by your relevant student finance body: Student Finance England, Wales or Northern Ireland, or SUSI in Ireland.
  • Field of study: Virtually any bachelor’s degree subject is suitable for this.

How to apply

If you are from England, Northern Ireland or Wales, you do not need to submit a separate application. You will be selected automatically based on your application to Student Finance and will receive a letter once your income has been confirmed. If you are from the Republic of Ireland, please email your SUSI award letter to the Student Money Team from your Strathclyde email address. Please attach the page showing your ‘Assessed Reckonable Income’.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive process. If you enrol at Strathclyde, pay the full tuition fee and your household income falls within the specified income bands, you will receive the grant automatically. Your eligibility depends on whether you meet the income and enrolment criteria – not on outperforming other applicants. Students from the Republic of Ireland simply need to remember to email their SUSI notification.
