PIMA mobility grant of the University of Cádiz

You get 700 EUR per month plus a one-off travel allowance of 1,160 EUR to spend part of your degree at a partner university in Latin America. The stay lasts 2 to 5 months for engineering students and 2 to 3 months for enology (wine science) students. You can go to Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Peru or Colombia, and your work there counts towards your degree at Cádiz. The University of Cádiz runs the programme within the Ibero-American PIMA academic exchange scheme, backed by the Organisation of Ibero-American States and the regional government of Andalusia. Low-income students may receive extra support if the budget allows.

Who can apply

• Your university: You are enrolled at the University of Cádiz.
• Engineering track: You are in the final year of any engineering bachelor's degree and have passed at least 180 ECTS credits. Abroad, you complete your final degree project (TFG).
• Enology track: You are in the enology bachelor's degree and have passed at least 120 ECTS credits, including the "Prácticas Integradas Enológicas" course. Abroad, you do the compulsory winery placement (Prácticas en Bodega).
• Nationality: You are a citizen of an EU country, or someone Spain officially recognises as a resident, refugee or stateless person.
• Where you can go: If you are a foreign national, have dual nationality or were born outside Spain, you cannot pick a destination in that country. All other students may choose freely from the partner list.
• Language: You provide proof of your language level. The higher it is, the more points you score.

How to apply

You apply online through the ORIUCA portal and rank your preferred partner universities. There is no interview. Selection is purely by points, based on your grade average, completed credits and language level. The deadline for the 2025/26 round was 21 February 2025 and has passed.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut very narrowly. You must study a specific degree at one university, be in your final stage, and only a handful of places exist per partner university. That keeps the applicant pool small. Since selection is a plain points calculation with no interview, strong grades plus a high language certificate directly decide your position. A C1 certificate scores five points, B1 only one, so a well-matched applicant with good marks has solid prospects.
