IWM Forschungsstipendien fuer Studierende aus Suedosteuropa (einjährige Fellowships, Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften)

What you get

You get a monthly payment for 12 months: 1,000 EUR per month as a master's student, or 1,200 EUR per month as a doctoral student. You can also join the academic life of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, taking part in its seminars and events. The scheme is funded from an endowment for students from South-Eastern Europe. Note that you do not get an office or work space at the Institute.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a citizen of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia or Turkey, and you are not an EU citizen.
• Where you study: You are enrolled in a master's or PhD programme at a university in Vienna for the whole funding period, and you live in Vienna.
• Field of study: Any subject in the humanities or social sciences.
• Grades: You finished your bachelor's or master's degree with excellent results.
• Financial need: You have little money of your own. During the scholarship you cannot take income from another scholarship, from rent, or from investments.

How to apply

You apply through the IWM online form; email applications are not accepted. You submit a motivation letter, a project proposal, your CV, two letters of recommendation and your degree certificate. A jury of experts selects the finalists and notifies applicants in the spring.
