About this grant / loan
What you receive
You will receive a sum of one-off grant of around 2,000 DKK (about 270 EUR). The exact amount may vary from year to year. The fund makes payments once a year and aims to transfer the money before Christmas. The money comes from the ‘Fællesfonden af 1990 til støtte for Børne- og Ungdomsforsorg’ (Joint Fund of 1990 in support of child and youth welfare), a Danish charitable fund administered by the Ankestyrelsen (the Danish Appeals Board). It supports child and youth welfare services, the education of young women, and families in difficult circumstances.
Who can apply
- Individuals only: You apply as a private person. Associations and organisations cannot apply.
- Where you live: You live in Denmark. Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply.
- Field of study: All fields are open.
- Financial need: You will be given priority if your annual income is below approximately 200,000 DKK (approximately 26,800 EUR). This is a strong preference, not a strict rule.
- Family: You will be given priority if you have one or more children still living at home. Single parents with several children and a tight budget will be given particular priority.
- Work status: You will be given priority if you are not a pensioner and are not on early retirement.
How to apply
Apply for the grant using the online form on the Ankestyrelsen website. Please attach your tax assessment (årsopgørelse), i.e. the annual income statement issued by the Danish tax authorities. The deadline is 15 November each year. Decisions and payments are made before Christmas. The fund does not send out rejection notices, so only successful applicants will receive a response.
