The Family Scholarship

The Family Scholarship (Familielegatet)

You get a one-off grant of DKK 2,000 to DKK 10,000 (about 270 to 1,340 EUR) towards your education. A Danish family trust runs the scholarship and supports the descendants of six founding family lines. For female family members, the grant can also go towards a wedding trousseau, meaning the household and clothing items traditionally gathered before a wedding.

Who can apply

• Family line: You descend from at least one of six named couples: Niels Christian and Mette Marie Købke, Bertel and Magdalene B. Bruun, Peter and Kirstine Købke, Carl Christian and Magdalene Barbara Constantin Hansen, Peter Christian and Bertel Nouvel Buch, or Enrico Mylius and Maria Magdalene Christiane Dalgas.
• Age: You are over 17 years old.
• Field of study: Any subject is fine.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Grades: Among eligible family members, the grant goes to those with the best grades.

How to apply

First ask the family administrator for an application form by email. Then send back your completed application, including a budget, to the same address. The deadline is 1 July each year.
