What the Crisis Fund gives you

You get a supermarket voucher worth up to about 58 EUR (up to £50) to cover food when you hit sudden financial trouble. This is one-off emergency help from the Students' Association of BPP University in the UK, not cash and not a regular scholarship. After you receive the voucher by email, you choose which supermarket chain to use it at. You can get it at most three times in a 12-month period, and a second request is only reviewed once two months have passed since the last approval. The fund only pays for food. It does not cover rent, bills, tuition or re-sit fees, debts, loan repayments, technology or other ongoing living costs.

Who can apply

• University: You are currently registered as a student at BPP University.
• Type of student: You are on a degree course. Non-degree apprentices cannot apply.
• Financial need: You are in real hardship because of something outside your control, and you have no other money to fall back on, such as savings.
• What you need it for: You need short-term help buying food, not to cover long-term or ongoing costs.
• Visa holders: If you are on a Tier IV student visa, you can show you had arranged to fund yourself before your course started, and that unexpected events have since disrupted those plans.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you study at BPP University.

How to apply

First contact the Independent Advice Team through the contact form on the Students' Association website. An advisor emails you the application form. You return it with one month of bank statements for all your active accounts and any evidence of your situation. There is no deadline, so you can apply whenever you need to. They aim to confirm they received your request within three working days.

How realistic are your chances?

This is emergency support, not a competitive scholarship. There is no ranking against other applicants and no set number of awards. What counts is whether you clearly meet the conditions: you are enrolled, in genuine hardship beyond your control, and can back it up with bank statements. If your situation fits and you provide the evidence, you can expect a quick decision, and you can come back up to three times a year.
