About this grant / loan

What you get

You can borrow money from the UK government to cover your tuition fees. Depending on your course, the loan may also cover your living costs whilst you are studying at ‘Oxford Lifelong Learning’, the University of Oxford’s continuing education department. This is a government-funded loan scheme, not a scholarship from the department. The department will assist you with your application and will receive the tuition fee loan directly in instalments. You may take out a loan to cover all or part of your tuition fees. If you also receive a scholarship from the department (a non-repayable grant), please deduct this amount from the loan amount you are applying for.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are studying for a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree.
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at Oxford Lifelong Learning, a department of the University of Oxford in the UK.
  • Study mode: Depending on the type of loan, both part-time and full-time students may apply.
  • Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.
  • Nationality: You are eligible for student finance from the UK government. International students are not eligible for these loans; there is a separate page on student finance for them.
  • Disability support: If you have a disability, you can register with the university’s Advisory Service for Students with Disabilities to receive support with applying for a grant for students with disabilities.

How to apply

You apply for the loan directly online via the UK Government’s Student Finance Service. Once your loan has been approved, please inform the department’s Student Support Administrator and send them your repayment plan.
