About this award / prize

What you get

In recognition of your voluntary work during the academic year, you will receive an official certificate from the President of the University of Limerick. There is no cash prize. Instead, you will receive a certificate and a permanent entry on your official UL academic transcript, which will highlight your commitment to future employers alongside your grades. You will also receive an invitation to the annual awards ceremony in the University’s concert hall. The level of the award depends on how many hours you have spent volunteering over the course of the year:

  • Gold: at least 60 hours
  • Silver: at least 40 hours
  • Bronze: at least 20 hours
  • Plassey: at least 12 hours, for students who are here for one semester only
  • Overseas Volunteering: a separate category for volunteering abroad
