About this award / prize

What you get

You will receive a one-off book token worth 150 EUR, a certificate and an invitation to a ceremony hosted by the Provost of Trinity College. At the ceremony, your name will be read out and entered into the College register, and your former school will be informed of the award. Trinity College Dublin awards these honours to recognise outstanding academic achievement amongst its new first-year students. If you win, you may also be eligible for a ‘Sizarship’: free dinners at Trinity during your first and second years of study. These are awarded annually to 10 students whose gross family income is below 40,000 EUR.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are a new student in your first year (Junior Fresh) and are starting a full-time Bachelor’s degree at Trinity College Dublin.
  • Field of study: All subjects.
  • Grades: You have achieved the highest score of all Trinity candidates at your secondary school, with at least 500 marks (including bonus marks for mathematics). All marks must have been achieved in a single examination session during the same academic year. If several pupils at your school have achieved the highest mark, all of them will receive this award.
  • Nationality and residence: You are a student from the EU/EEA who has lived in the EU/EEA during the three years prior to the start of your studies. Students from Ireland and Northern Ireland are covered by the ‘top-of-school’ rule; in other EU/EEA countries, a ‘best-in-country’ variant applies.

How to apply

You do not apply for the Entrance Exhibition. Trinity's Academic Registry contacts you directly if you are eligible, and the ceremony is usually held in the first weeks of term. For a Sizarship you do need to apply: email the Academic Registry before 15 October each year.
