University College Cork - The Thorley Sweetman Prize

The Thorley Sweetman Prize

You will receive 250 EUR in cash, a certificate on parchment, and your name engraved on a trophy on display in the Department of Geology. The prize is awarded for the best mapping project undertaken as part of the fieldwork during the final year of the geology degree at University College Cork (UCC). It is funded by a donation established in memory of Dr Thorley Sweetman, who studied at this institution and later worked there. As the funds come from investment income, the exact amount may vary slightly from year to year. In a particularly successful year, two prizes may be awarded. If no project is deemed good enough, no prize will be awarded.
