About this scholarship

President's Scholarship Award

You will receive a 1,500 EUR cut in your tuition fees per year, which is renewed for each year of your postgraduate studies. A higher-level version, the ‘Gold Medal’, is worth 3,000 EUR per year. The award remains valid for as long as you are enrolled on the programme. This is usually 1 or 2 years for taught programmes, 2 years for a research master’s degree, and up to the first 2 years of a PhD. Mary Immaculate College (MIC) in Limerick, Ireland, awards the honour to its own graduates who have completed their first degree with top marks and subsequently undertake postgraduate study at the college.

Who can apply

  • Where you studied: You completed your Bachelor’s degree at Mary Immaculate College.
  • Your results: You have achieved a ‘First Class Honours’ grade – the highest possible final grade – in one of MIC’s accredited Bachelor’s degree programmes.
  • What you do next: You are starting a postgraduate programme at the MIC, such as a postgraduate diploma, a Master’s programme with a focus on teaching or research, or the first two years of a PhD programme.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You do not need to apply, and there is no selection process. Your results will automatically lead to the award of the scholarship. If you complete one of the eligible degree programmes with a ‘First Class Honours’ grade, you will receive a letter from the MIC setting out the next steps, although different procedures apply to teaching and research degree programmes.
