About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive an annual study grant from the regional government of the Aosta Valley if you are enrolled at one of the universities there. The programme comprises two tiers, and which one applies to you depends on your family income. At the first level, the study grant amounts to 2,217 EUR to 4,903 EUR per academic year. In addition, you will receive a housing allowance of between 3,102 and 4,856 euros, as well as a reimbursement of your tuition fees. In the second tier, the study grant ranges from 1,470 EUR to 2,470 EUR, plus a housing allowance of between 1,970 EUR and 2,870 EUR, as well as a refund of the regional student tax. Both degree programmes also offer a grant for studying abroad (for example, as part of the Erasmus programme, for up to 10 months), a potential graduation prize, and travel discounts: a refund of 60% on the monthly Aosta–Turin rail pass and a discounted regional bus pass.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of the Aosta Valley or at the Polytechnic University of Turin.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- Family income: Your household income must remain below certain thresholds, which are determined on the basis of the ISEE (an Italian means-test indicator). For the first option, an ISEE of up to 27,948.60 EUR is required. The second route allows for up to 44,000 EUR. You cannot apply for both routes at the same time.
- Study progress: You must have earned a minimum number of course credits (CFU) by a set date. Your grades do not matter, only that you have passed enough exams. Special rules apply if you have a recognised disability above 66%.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the Aosta Valley Region’s website. You will also need an ISEE certificate issued by a tax consultancy firm or a tax adviser. The two application rounds begin every year in early October, and the deadline for applications is mid-December (for 2025/2026, it was 19 December at 12:00). You must reapply every academic year.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is restricted to students at institutions in the Aosta Valley who meet the income and academic performance thresholds, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you are studying at one of the universities listed, meet the income threshold and have passed a sufficient number of exams, your chances are good. This is a standard, means-tested grant, not a prize for a handful of winners. Apply as soon as the call for applications opens in October, and make sure you have your ISEE certificate ready in good time.
