What you get

You will receive a financial grant from the University of Milan-Bicocca. This ranges from approximately 1,314 EUR to 7,777 EUR per year and is paid in two instalments. The amount you receive depends on your family income and the distance between your home and the university. Students who live at home receive the lower amounts. Students who move away from home to study (‘fuori sede’) receive the highest amount. Women studying STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) receive an additional 20%. In addition to the cash payment, you will receive a full or partial exemption from tuition fees, free daily meals, and the opportunity to rent a subsidised room near the university for around 256 EUR per month. There are additional supplements if you have a disability of 66% or higher, or if you spend part of your studies abroad. In the event of a sudden financial emergency, you can apply for a one-off payment of up to 3,000 EUR or, in exceptional cases, up to 5,000 EUR.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at the University of Milan-Bicocca in Italy or are about to enrol there.
• Study level: You are enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, single-cycle Master’s, doctoral or specialisation programme beyond the first year of study.
• Field of study: Anyone interested is welcome to apply.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, including Italian, EU and non-EU students.
• Income: Your family’s assessed income (ISEE) must not exceed 26,887.93 EUR, and your assessed assets (ISPE) must not exceed 58,452.06 EUR. You must comply with both limits.
• Academic progress: You have earned the required number of credit points (CFU) and are progressing through your degree as planned. Your academic record determines your position in the ranking list.
• No double funding: You do not yet hold an equivalent or higher qualification and are not receiving a similar scholarship from another institution.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the university’s student finance portal. To apply, you will need an ISEE income statement issued by the university on 2026. The application period begins on 7 July 2026. The deadline for applying for the scholarship and submitting your ISEE proof of income is 30 September 2026. There will be no interview: places are allocated according to a ranking list based on income and academic performance.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a means-tested grant aimed at students whose income does not exceed certain thresholds and who are also making steady academic progress. Places are allocated according to a fixed ranking list rather than on the basis of subjective criteria. Your chances therefore depend on how low your income is and how strong your academic performance and grades are. If you are well below the ISEE and ISPE thresholds and are on track with your studies, please apply in good time before the deadline on 30 September.
