About this award / prize
Prizes "Municipality of Castellanza"
As a student at Carlo Cattaneo University (LIUC) in Castellanza, Italy, you will receive a one-off merit award of 1,750 EUR. Four awards are presented each academic year, totalling 7,000 EUR. Two prizes are funded by the university, whilst the other two are funded by the Municipality of Castellanza (Comune di Castellanza). The municipality organises the competition in collaboration with LIUC. You may not combine this award with a similar award from another public or private institution, nor with a tuition fee reduction whose value exceeds that of the award itself. The only exception to this is a sibling discount.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the University Carlo Cattaneo (LIUC) in a bachelor's or master's programme in Business Economics or Management Engineering for 2025/2026.
- Where you live: You have been officially registered as a resident of Castellanza (Province of Varese) for at least two years prior to the date of the call for applications.
- On track: You are within the standard duration of study for your degree programme. If you have exceeded the official duration of study (‘fuori corso’), whether currently or at another higher education institution, you cannot apply.
- Grades, first bachelor's year: Your final mark is at least 85/100 and you have never repeated a school year.
- Grades, later bachelor's years: You must have earned at least 48 credits by the end of your first year of study, or at least 100 credits by the end of your second year of study, all of which must have been recorded by 30 September 2025, and have achieved a weighted average of at least 27/30.
- Grades, master's students: In your first year, you finished your bachelor's on time with at least 100/110 and were admitted without a gap. In your second year, you have 48 credits beyond the bachelor's by 30 September 2025 and an average of at least 27/30.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the LIUC student portal by 25 October 2025. A committee comprising university staff and a representative from the city will draw up separate ranking lists for first-year students and students in subsequent years of study. The results will be published on the LIUC website within 30 days of the application deadline.
How realistic are your chances?
The selection criteria for this prize are very strict. You must have lived in Castellanza for at least two years, be studying economics or engineering at LIUC, and have very good grades, which means that the pool of eligible candidates is small. If you clearly meet these conditions and your marks are among the highest in your year group, you stand a good chance of winning one of the four prizes. The ranking is based solely on marks and credit points, so an outstanding academic record is crucial.
