About this award / prize

Benefit

If your film review wins, you will receive a 6-day, 5-night stay in Venice during the Venice International Film Festival. You will also receive a free ticket to the festival screenings taking place in 2026 from 2 to 12 September. You can take part in discussions and film analyses led by critics and experts. The organiser may name additional winners and award further prizes, such as free festival passes, books or a pass for another Italian festival. Winners and runners-up may contribute articles to the organiser’s festival publications during the event. Some of the best reviews will be published online and in the quarterly magazine ‘Cin&media’. The prize will not be paid out in cash. The competition is organised by CINIT (Cineforum Italiano), a national film association recognised by the Italian Ministry of Culture.

Eligibility

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at a university or a secondary school (in your final years of secondary education) in Italy. Every subject counts.
  • Age: To be eligible for the Venice Prize, you must be between 18 and 26 years old on 2 September of the competition year.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying in Italy.
  • Your entry: You are to write your own, unpublished review of a film you have seen at the cinema in recent seasons (for 2026: films from 2024 to 2026). The review must not exceed 3,000 characters, including spaces.

How to apply

Send your review by email to CINIT by 31 May, together with your personal details and the name and address of your university or school. A jury of three experts from CINIT and the Italian national film critics' union (SNCCI) picks the winner based on originality and content. The jury's decision is final.
