About this scholarship
What you get
You receive a one-off cash payment from the University of Bologna for continuing into the second year of a STEAM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics). The amount is not fixed. It is a percentage of the maximum yearly tuition fee for your course, and the percentage depends on your gender and your family income (ISEE, the Italian means-test figure). Women with an ISEE of 33,000 EUR or less get 90% of that maximum; men at the same income level get 70%. Above that income, or if no ISEE is on file, women get 70% and men get 50%. The payout is never less than 200 EUR. For the Mathematics bachelor class (L-35) a total of 13,387.78 EUR is set aside, and for the Mathematics master (LM-40) 5,009.03 EUR.
Who can apply
- Degree: You study a STEAM bachelor's or master's at the University of Bologna, for example Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, Architecture or an engineering subject.
- Timing: You first enrolled in 2025/26 and are now enrolled in the second year (2026/27). Only students who started their programme in that first year qualify.
- Credits: By 30 September 2026 you have earned at least two-thirds of the credits (CFU) planned for your first year. Credits carried over from an earlier degree do not count.
- Still on track: You have not switched to a different programme or dropped out before the deadline.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply. International students without an Italian ID log in with their university credentials, and students from non-OECD or very low-income countries may submit income data voluntarily.
- No double funding: You cannot combine this with the 20% ER.GO scholarship top-up for women in STEM fields.
How to apply
Apply online through the Studenti Online portal, logging in with SPID or your university credentials, then open the STEAM call under 'Bandi'. The deadline is 27 October 2026 at 12:00 (midday). Awards are ranked separately per degree class, scored on credits earned, your weighted grade average and your income level.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not an open scholarship. It is limited to Bologna students who started a STEAM programme in 2025/26 and kept up their credits, so the eligible group is narrow and each degree class has its own small ranked pool. If you meet the credit requirement and have solid grades, your prospects are good. A low income and, under the rules, your gender both raise your payout and your ranking score.
