About this scholarship

Student Mobility for Placement (SMP)

You will receive an Erasmus+ grant of 500 EUR per month for up to 4 months to undertake a work placement with a company or organisation in another European country. Through this work placement, you will gain practical experience in your field of study and make it easier for yourself to enter the labour market. It is organised by the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo (ABAPA), which has been participating in the Erasmus programme since 1997. You will find the placement yourself and then apply for the grant.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo on a first-cycle (three-year) or second-cycle (two-year) degree programme.
  • Recent graduates: You can also do an internship after you’ve graduated. However, you must apply and be selected before you finish your degree.
  • Field of study: Open to all degree programmes at the Academy in the fields of fine art, design and communication.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply, provided they are enrolled at the Academy.
  • Where you go: Your work placement must take place abroad, in a country that participates in the Erasmus+ programme.
  • Languages: You can work in the language of the destination country or in English.

How to apply

The Academy publishes the call for applications every October on its website and on the noticeboard. A panel of three lecturers assesses eligibility and draws up a ranking list of applicants. Your motivation, language skills and artistic abilities are assessed as part of this process.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is open exclusively to students who are already enrolled at an academy in Palermo, meaning there are only a few applicants competing for it. If you are studying there, find a suitable placement abroad and write a compelling personal statement, your chances are good. Keep an eye out for the call for applications in October, as selection is based on a ranking list.
