About this grant / loan

Contribution towards thesis travel costs (University of L'Aquila)

You will receive a one-off payment to cover the travel, accommodation and living expenses you incurred whilst working on your dissertation in a location outside your place of residence. If you carried out this work in Italy, you will receive up to 1,032 EUR. If you carried out this work abroad, you will receive up to 2,066 EUR. The University of L’Aquila (UnivAQ) will reimburse the costs upon presentation of receipts. The total amount is divided each year amongst the successful applicants.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled at the University of L'Aquila and are about to graduate.
  • Reason for the trip: For your final-year dissertation, you had to work in a place that was neither your home town nor L’Aquila. You can provide evidence of this by submitting a certificate from your supervisor and confirmation of the accommodation where you were staying.
  • Proof of costs: You must keep the receipts for the travel, accommodation and living expenses actually incurred.
  • Financial need: Your family’s ISEE score (Italy’s official measure of household income and assets) is below the threshold specified in the call for applications.
  • Timing: You graduate no more than two years beyond the standard length of your degree.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying in L'Aquila.

How to apply

You must submit a written application to the university, either by post or by certified email (PEC). The application deadline is 21 May. A university committee will review the applications and decide who will receive the grant.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a narrow, refund-style award. You only qualify if your thesis genuinely forced you to work elsewhere, your household income is below the ISEE threshold, and you can document the costs. That keeps the applicant pool small, so a well-matched student with clean paperwork has good prospects. The award is a reimbursement, not a prize, so a clear, well-evidenced case matters most.
