About this grant / loan

What you get

You will receive a refund of part of the tuition fees you have paid to the university. The Autonomous Province of Bolzano/South Tyrol will refund you up to 80% of your tuition fees, capped at 3,000 EUR. This is a one-off refund per academic year, not a monthly allowance. You will receive the amount in a single payment, even if you have paid your tuition fees in instalments. If the calculated refund is less than 300 euros, you will not receive a refund. The refund is processed by the Provincial Office for the Right to Higher Education.

Who can apply

  • You already hold the province's study grant: You are on the final list of recipients of the Province’s standard study grant (borsa di studio ordinaria) for 2025/2026. This reimbursement is awarded in addition to this grant.
  • Where you study: You are studying at a university in Italy, at a university in a country that is a signatory to the Lisbon Convention (an agreement on the cross-border recognition of qualifications), at the ‘Claudiana’ Provincial College of Health Sciences or at the ‘Studio Teologico Accademico’ in Brixen.
  • You asked for a fee reduction: You have applied to your university for a reduction in tuition fees. In Italy, this is done via the ISEE, ISEU or ICEF income declaration. If your university does not grant a reduction, keep written proof of this.
  • Study progress: You have earned at least 10 ECTS credits in the academic year 2025/2026.
  • You actually paid tuition: You cannot submit an application if you were fully exempt from fees, as in that case no refund can be made.
  • Field of study: All subjects are open.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

If you are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student at the Free University of Bolzano or the Monteverdi Conservatoire, you will usually receive the refund automatically via your university. You only need to submit the application yourself if you are enrolled on a dual or joint degree programme or have changed your degree programme.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted exclusively online via the myCIVIS portal; you will need to log in using SPID, CIE, CNS or eIDAS. The application deadline is 31.07.2026, 12:00. If you are studying abroad, please enclose proof of the amount of your tuition fees, any fee reductions and your payment receipts.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive grant. A clear ‘yes or no’ rule applies: if you have received the province’s standard study grant, earned at least 10 ECTS credits, paid your tuition fees and applied for a fee reduction, you are eligible. The real hurdle lies in securing the standard grant in the first place. Once you have this, the key to receiving this reimbursement is simply to meet the conditions and submit your application before the deadline in July.
