Regional scholarships at the University of Padua

You will receive a grant of EUR 426 per academic year, and depending on your circumstances, the total amount may be up to about EUR 1,445 to EUR 8,246 to cover your living costs whilst studying at the University of Padua in Italy. The exact amount depends on your family’s income and how far you live from the campus. If you move a long way from home, you will receive the maximum amount; commuters will receive less, and local residents will receive the basic amount. Part of the grant may be provided in the form of benefits rather than cash, for example as a room in a hall of residence or meals in the university canteens. This value is then deducted from the money you receive. Women studying STEM subjects receive 20% more, and students on the lowest incomes receive a supplement of 15%. The grant is funded by the Veneto Region. It runs for at least ten months in each academic year, and you can receive it throughout your studies as long as you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are enrolled at the University of Padua on a Bachelor’s, Master’s, single-cycle Master’s (five or six years) or PhD programme in 2026/27. PhD students are only eligible to apply if they are not receiving any other scholarship.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Students from non-EU countries require an ‘ISEE Parificato’ (an official document certifying family income) and will be considered on a separate list, with up to 7% in funding available.
• Financial need: Your family’s income indicator (ISEE) is no more than 26,306.25 euros, and your family’s asset indicator (ISPE) is no more than 43,125.94 euros.
• Academic progress: You must earn a set number of credit points (ECTS) each year; for example, 25 in the second year of a Bachelor’s degree. For first-year students, only their income is taken into account; however, they must achieve at least 20 ECTS by the following August or repay the money.
• No equivalent degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same or a higher level, either in Italy or abroad.

How to apply

By 30 September 2026, you must complete three tasks: fill in the application for a student grant on the Uniweb portal, obtain your ISEE income certificate, and pay the first instalment of your tuition fees in order to finalise your enrolment. The provisional ranking lists will be published on 15 October 2026, and the final lists from 25 November 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a means-tested grant which is awarded strictly on a merit basis and is not selected by a panel. Your chances depend on your income level and, in later years, on your ECTS credits. If you clearly meet the ISEE income threshold and maintain your ECTS credits, your chances are good. Make sure you complete all three application steps in good time before the deadline on 30 September, as even a single incomplete step will automatically result in exclusion.
