About this grant / loan
What you get
Ca’ Foscari University of Venice is reducing tuition fees for students on its science degree programmes. There are two different types of discount. Firstly, the 500 EUR bonus top 3 students in each year group (1, 2 and 3) on certain Bachelor’s degree programmes in the natural sciences receive financial support. This is granted as a reduction or refund of your tuition fees, with the upper limit being the fees due for that year. To support women in these subjects, the highest-achieving female student in each year group receives an additional 500 EUR. Secondly, a general merit-based reduction of 315 EUR (205 euros for part-time study) reduces tuition fees for Bachelor’s and Master’s students in the natural sciences. Both are calculated automatically, so you do not need to fill in any forms.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice.
- Field of study: For the 500 EUR bonus you study one of four scientific Bachelor's programmes: Informatics, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry and Sustainable Technology, or Engineering Physics. For the 315 EUR reduction, any Bachelor's or Master's programme in the Science field counts, except Digital Management and Hospitality Innovation and e-Tourism.
- Grades (bonus): You are one of the top students in your year group. Your ranking is determined by your weighted average mark (two-thirds) and your total number of credit points (one-third).
- Grades (315 EUR reduction, first-year Bachelor's): You scored at least 98 out of 100 marks in your final exam.
- Grades (315 EUR reduction, later years): You must have a weighted average mark of at least 26 out of 30 and have earned the required credit points by 30 September (54 ECTS in the year 2, 108 in the year 3 for full-time students).
- Grades (315 EUR reduction, first-year Master's): Your mark in your Bachelor’s degree is between 108 and 110 cum laude.
- Nationality: Open to all nationalities. If you are a student from a non-EU country, please check whether any additional requirements apply to you.
How to apply
You do not need to apply for either the bonus of 500 EUR or the reduction in fees of 315 EUR. The university automatically checks the rankings and your results. For the bonus, the ranking list will be published by the end of March of the following academic year. The winners will be notified by email to their university address.
How realistic are your chances?
The bonus of 500 EUR is limited to the top 3 students in each year group across four specific degree programmes, so you really do have to be among the very best to receive it. The discount of 315 EUR is far easier to qualify for. Any science student with solid marks and sufficient credit points is eligible for it. As it is awarded automatically, anyone who meets the required marks receives it without having to compete for a limited number of places.
