About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a research grant of 750 EUR per month for 36 months (3 years). This amount may be increased should additional funds become available. The funding is provided by the University of Camerino (UNICAM) in Italy. This grant supports a PhD student in researching new treatment methods for specific conditions affecting patients who live a long way from the hospital. You will be based at UNICAM’s Faculty of Pharmacological Sciences and Health Products, which specialises in telemedicine and AI in healthcare.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You hold a Master’s degree (Laurea Magistrale or equivalent) from an Italian university.
  • Field of study: You hold a degree in medicine, pharmacy, a related pharmacological discipline or dentistry.
  • Specialisation: You have completed a specialisation course (Corso di Specializzazione) in your field.
  • Language: You speak and write English fluently.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they hold the required Italian qualification.

How to apply

You apply through the UNICAM calls (bandi) portal. You are assessed on your degree and specialisation, then invited to an interview held in English.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is highly selective. It is aimed at a single researcher, and applicants must hold an Italian university degree in medicine, pharmacy or dentistry, as well as having completed specialist medical training. As a result, the pool of eligible candidates is small. If you clearly meet these requirements and can cope with an interview in English, your prospects are quite good. The monthly amount is low by current Italian standards, which makes it more akin to a specialist research grant than a general living allowance.
