About this scholarship

Cumberland Lodge Fellowship

You join a two-year leadership and networking programme run by Cumberland Lodge, an independent education charity in Windsor Great Park, England. You get:

  • A Personal Development Grant of 300 GBP (about 350 EUR) to fund your own project that strengthens social cohesion.
  • Mentoring (one-to-one guidance from experienced leaders) through the Windsor Leadership Trust.
  • Skills training in public engagement, working across disciplines and leadership.
  • Access to a network of policymakers, academics and industry leaders, plus an international alumni community (former fellows).
  • All meals, accommodation and London travel for required activities.

The programme runs alongside your existing research or job. Ten places are awarded each year.

Who can apply

  • Where you live: You live in Greater London now and plan to stay there for the full two years.
  • Your stage: You are either a doctoral student (PhD) at a UK university, or a professional within five years of starting your career.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply; only your London residence matters.
  • Your field: Professionals from tech, AI, finance, the charity sector and the creative industries are especially welcome.
  • What they look for: Leadership potential, curiosity, a link to Cumberland Lodge's themes, and a clear commitment to building more inclusive communities.

How to apply

You apply with the Fellowship application pack for the relevant cycle. Applications for the 2026-28 round have closed. Because of high numbers, they do not contact unsuccessful applicants, so no reply by 15 June 2026 means you were not shortlisted.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is narrowly targeted: you must live in Greater London and be either a PhD student or an early-career professional, and only ten places open each year. The field is small, but competition for those places is real. If you clearly fit the profile and can show genuine work on social cohesion and leadership, your prospects are solid. The grant itself is modest; the real value is the mentoring, network and access.
