About this scholarship

Benefit

This scholarship was awarded to low-income students at the University of West London in their first year of study, up to about EUR 1,150 (1,000 GBP) in cash. In addition to the cash award, recipients received a total package worth at least approximately 3,450 euros (3,000 GBP). The remainder was provided in the form of a reduction in tuition fees, free access to a foundation year, discounted accommodation or other university services. The scholarship was funded by the UK government and supplemented by the university. It was only awarded in the year students began their studies, not every year.

Eligibility

  • University: You studied at the University of West London in England.
  • Financial need: Your household income was 25,000 GBP per year or less, which meant you were entitled to full state support.
  • Study phase: You were in the year you started your degree.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Where you study: You studied in the UK, not abroad.

Is this scholarship still available?

No. The UK government ran the National Scholarship Programme only from 2012 to 2015 and subsequently abolished it. The University of West London no longer offers it. If you now need financial support to study there, the university offers other funding schemes, such as the Full-time Undergraduate Scholarship for students on low incomes. These are separate schemes which do not replace this programme.
