Engineering Alumni Scholarship (University of Nottingham)

You get 1,500 GBP per year (about 1,700 EUR) to help with living costs while you study engineering at the University of Nottingham (UK campus). Your total depends on your course: MEng students get 6,000 GBP (about 6,900 EUR) over four years, BEng students get 4,500 GBP (about 5,200 EUR) over three years, and BArch students get 1,500 GBP per year for the length of their course. If you start on the Engineering and Physical Sciences Foundation Year, you get 1,500 GBP for that year, and the money continues automatically once you progress. It is paid in three instalments each year from October 2026 and covers living costs, not tuition fees. The scholarship is funded by donations from Nottingham alumni and friends of the engineering faculty.

Who can apply

• Course: You are starting the first year of a Faculty of Engineering degree (BArch, BEng or MEng) at the Nottingham UK campus, or the Engineering and Physical Sciences Foundation Year with the plan to move into an engineering degree.
• First degree: This is your first undergraduate degree.
• First choice: You have named Nottingham as your first-choice university on UCAS, the UK's central university application system.
• Residence: You have Home fee status, meaning you have lived in the UK for the three years before your course starts. Recognised refugees and European migrant workers may also qualify.
• Household income: Your 2024/25 household income, as assessed by Student Finance, is 42,875 GBP (about 49,000 EUR) or less.
• No employer sponsorship: You are not funded by industry or an employer for the course. University Core Bursaries and government grants do not affect your eligibility.
• Foundation Year progression: If you are already on the Foundation Year, you are on track to move into year one with an average of 60% or more.

How to apply

You apply through an online form by Friday 10 April 2026. The form includes a short supporting statement: describe the barriers you have overcome in education, what you do outside your studies, and how the money would help your plans. A panel scores the applications. You hear the result by email within four weeks of the deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly. You must study engineering at one specific university, name it as your first choice, and fall under the income cap, so the eligible group is small. With over 40 awards available for 2026 entry, prospects are reasonable for a well-matched applicant. Selection is scored on your supporting statement, so a concrete account of the hurdles you have faced and your wider involvement makes the difference.
