About this award / prize

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant of 3,000 EUR to 8,000 EUR to help you bring your own charitable project to life. In addition to the funding, you will receive practical support with planning and implementing the project. Every year, the Fondation de France supports around 20 young people in all areas that serve the public good.

Who can apply

  • Age: You are 18 years old or older, and will not yet be 30 years old on 31 December of the year in which you are applying.
  • Nationality: You are French or a foreigner living in France who speaks French fluently.
  • Education: Anyone can apply. Your level of education or training is irrelevant.
  • Your project: It is your own idea, which serves the public interest and demonstrates originality, creativity or innovation.
  • Topic: Your project falls into one of three areas: environmental change (environment, biodiversity, climate, sustainable food or energy), a fairer and more inclusive society (poverty reduction, inclusion, anti-discrimination, knowledge sharing) or digital transformation (digital exclusion, digital literacy, new social connections).
  • Background: If you grew up in modest circumstances or have already gone through difficult times in your life, that is an added advantage. It is a plus, but not a requirement.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Fondation de France’s online portal. For the 2026 round, you can apply from 25 February until 15 April at 2026 (5). A shortlist will be announced in June, and the jury will make its final decision at the end of September.

How realistic are your chances?

Only around 20 grants are awarded each year, and as this is a nationwide competition, it all comes down to having a compelling, original project. Your chances will improve if your idea clearly fits one of the three themes and you can demonstrate that you have tailored it to the people it is intended to help. The foundation also places particular emphasis on applicants who grew up in modest circumstances or had a difficult start in life; therefore, in addition to the project itself, an authentic personal story is also important.
