About this scholarship
What the AMOPA scholarship gives you
You will receive a one-off grant to carry out your own study or research project in France or abroad, preferably during the summer months. The amount of the grant is determined on a case-by-case basis for each project, depending on the quality of your idea, your financial situation and your level of study. In previous rounds of applications, grants ranged from around 250 EUR up to 1,000 EUR for shorter higher education programmes and up to 1,500 EUR for students on a degree programme leading to a qualification. Your local AMOPA branch may also increase this amount. The project lasts for a maximum of 6 months. The grant is provided by AMOPA, the French association of holders of the ‘Ordre des Palmes Académiques’ (an academic honour), in collaboration with MAE Solidarité.
Who can apply
- Age: They range from 18 to 25. The upper limit may be relaxed in justified cases.
- Study level: You are studying for a two-year higher technical or technological qualification (BTS or BUT) or a Bachelor’s, Master’s or equivalent degree.
- Your project: You have a clear, original idea, the results of which could be published in the fields of art, literature, economics, social sciences, natural sciences or technology. It could also lead to an examination or a university degree.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome. AMOPA local groups based abroad may also nominate candidates who wish to carry out a project in France.
- Financial need: Your income is a factor. You must enclose your own tax assessment notice or that of your parents 2025 with your documents.
- Support: Your project must be supported by a supervising teacher. You must arrange a host and accommodation before applying.
How to apply
Please send your complete application documents by 13 February 2026 to the AMOPA section for your French subject area (region), not to the national office. Each section will review the applications and forward a maximum of two of them to the national committee. The committee will make the final decision and inform you of the amount if you are selected.
How realistic are your chances?
Each local group forwards only two applications, meaning that the competition takes place initially at a regional level and vague project ideas are quickly weeded out. A clearly defined, original idea with a supporting teacher, confirmed accommodation and a clear budget stands out. If your project is truly worthy of publication and you can demonstrate a financial need, your prospects are good. Apply in good time before the February deadline via your subject section.
