About this scholarship
Émile Boutmy Scholarship
You will receive tuition fee waiver for your studies at Sciences Po (Institut d’études politiques de Paris) in France. For a Bachelor’s degree programme, you will receive either a full waiver or a reduction of 9,500 EUR per year. For a Master’s programme, you will receive a reduction of 18,500 EUR per year in each of the two years. Sciences Po awards the scholarship on behalf of its founder, Émile Boutmy; it is funded by private sponsors. It is awarded to the best students from countries outside the EU. You can combine it with external funding such as the Eiffel Scholarship or French government scholarships, but not with other scholarships from Sciences Po.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You have been admitted to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at Sciences Po in Paris.
- First-time applicant: You are applying to Sciences Po for the first time and are not yet enrolled. Once you are a student, you will no longer be able to apply.
- Nationality: You are a national of a country outside the EU and do not hold a second EU nationality. Applicants from Switzerland and Norway are not eligible to apply.
- Taxes: Your household does not pay any tax within the EU.
- Field of study: Open to all degree programmes, with the exception of the Master’s programme in Journalism, the one-year Master’s programmes, the PhD programme and exchange programmes.
- Merit: Selection is based on your grades and on how well you are suited to the degree programme.
How to apply
You apply for the scholarship as part of your online application for admission to Sciences Po in the ‘Financial Information’ section. For the Bachelor’s programme, the application deadline is 20 January or 1 April if you are applying from a French school. For the Master’s programme, you can apply by 19 October or by 30 November. Only successful applicants will be notified of the scholarship award.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is conditional upon admission to a selective university; therefore, admission is the first and most difficult hurdle. Only after this have been cleared will admitted students be considered. It is aimed exclusively at top students from non-EU countries, which means the pool of eligible applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. If you have very good grades, clearly meet the criteria for non-EU students and apply by the deadline, your chances are good.
