Brouillon d'un reve radio et podcast (Scam)

You get a one-off grant of 2,500 EUR to 6,000 EUR (gross) to develop an original audio or radio project. It funds creative sound works: radio pieces, documentaries and audio essays, whatever their length or how they are broadcast (on air or online). The award comes from the Scam, France's authors' society for multimedia creators. You can combine it with any other professional funding you receive.

Who can apply

• You are a person, not a company: Only individual authors can apply. Production firms, associations and collectives cannot. A project written by several co-authors can be entered as one joint application.
• Age: You are at least 18. There is no upper age limit.
• Nationality and residence: Any nationality and any country of residence can apply. You do not have to be a member of Scam.
• Experience: All levels welcome, from beginners to experienced authors.
• Your project is still a project: The work is not finished or in final editing. Test recordings and demos are fine, but most of the production must still lie ahead.
• No media deal yet: No radio, publisher or producer has already signed up your project for broadcast.
• Waiting periods: You can enter only one project per year. If you already won a Brouillon d'un reve grant, you must wait three full years before applying again.
• Not eligible: News reports, magazines and information shows, fiction and musical works, and projects that already won the Gulliver grant.

How to apply

You apply online through the Scam portal between 10 and 15 November, with an application file written in French. Only the first 200 projects are accepted, so apply early. A jury of sound documentary makers reviews the projects over about five months and sends results by email.

How realistic are your chances?

The field is wide open, since any adult of any nationality can apply. But the cap of 200 projects and the strong focus on originality keep the competition real. The jury looks for a distinctive personal approach rather than a track record, so a bold, well-written idea matters more than experience. Apply in the first days of the November window, because the form closes automatically once 200 projects are in.
