About this scholarship

What you get

You study for a year at University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland. Your tuition is fully covered, and the Harting Committee, which runs the award, also pays your travel and living costs. The exact amounts for travel and living are not published. You join UCC's Language Centre and can pick one or more undergraduate or postgraduate courses. These can come from the School of Language and Literature, from History, from Modern Irish, or from related subjects in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences. In return, you teach and help examine Dutch for up to four hours a week.

Who can apply

  • Where you study now: You are enrolled at a university in the Netherlands.
  • Subject: You study English.
  • Willing to teach: You are ready to teach Dutch and help with Dutch exams at UCC, up to four hours each week.
  • Preparation course: You attend a three-day training course each May for students heading off to teach Dutch at universities in Ireland and Britain.

How to apply

One place is given each year to a student of English from a Dutch university. Contact the award office at UCC to apply. No application deadline is published.
