Master Scholarship for NHL Stenden Alumni

You get a tuition waiver of 6,000 EUR towards a one-year Master of Arts at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. A waiver means part of your course fee is dropped, so instead of 11,995 EUR you pay 5,995 EUR for the year. It applies to two programmes: the MA International Hospitality and Service Management (open to all nationalities) and the MA International Leisure, Tourism and Events Management (for non-EU/EEA students only, since EU/EEA students already pay a government-subsidised fee of 2,209 EUR). Only a limited number of waivers is awarded each year.

Who can apply

• Your link to NHL Stenden: You are a current NHL Stenden bachelor student in your third or fourth year at any of its sites, or you graduated from the bachelor programmes International Hospitality Management, Leisure Management or Tourism Management. In exceptional cases the selection board may also admit applicants without this link.
• Master you enrol in: You start one of the two named MA programmes. The waiver cannot be used for any other course.
• Grades: Your weighted grade point average from your third study year is at least 6.5.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply for the Hospitality and Service Management master. The Leisure, Tourism and Events master is only for students from outside the EU/EEA.
• What you give back: You help with the university's international and marketing activities, for example recruitment or research, or you act as a buddy for new students.

How to apply

You send your application by email to the Masters Office. Include a motivation letter (max. 1 A4), your CV, a grade overview showing your GPA, and the application form, all in English as PDF. If your application is complete, you are invited to an interview within ten working days, and you hear the result within ten working days after that.

How realistic are your chances?

This waiver is cut narrowly. It targets NHL Stenden's own bachelor students and alumni in hospitality, leisure and tourism, so few people compete for it. If you fit that group and clearly clear the 6.5 GPA bar, your prospects are good, since grades and a convincing motivation letter are the deciding factors. Only a limited number are awarded, so a strong, well-argued application matters.
