About this scholarship
Danish Women's Society United Foundation scholarship
You will receive a one-off payment of about 670 EUR (4,000 to 6,000 DKK), which will be paid out in early December. This is a one-off payment, not a monthly allowance, and the money is often used to fund study abroad. The money comes from the Dansk Kvindesamfund (Danish Women’s Association), which supports women in becoming financially independent through education and employment. With a single application, you can apply for both of the organisation’s scholarships: the United Foundation (Fællesfond) scholarship and the Jutta Bojsen Møller scholarship. The organisation awards between 25 and 35 of these scholarships each year.
Who can apply
- Women only: This funding scheme is aimed at women.
- What you study: You are currently undertaking educational, vocational or artistic training, or are completing an apprenticeship in a commercial, craft-based or similar field.
- How far along: You have been attending your current course for at least a year.
- Field of study: All subjects are open.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- What counts in selection: Outstanding academic achievement and commitment, dedication to women’s issues or activities, as well as financial need or difficult personal circumstances.
- Extra consideration: Teacher-training students who live in the Slagelse police district, as well as medical students at the University of Copenhagen, are given a certain degree of priority.
- Not eligible: Upper-secondary school pupils (HF, HH, HG, STX, HTX, HHX) and courses shorter than three years, unless the course builds on an earlier qualification.
How to apply
Fill in the application form on the society's website. Explain why you apply and attach documents to back it up. Two independent witnesses (not family, partners or flatmates) must confirm your details in writing on the form. The deadline is 15 September each year. You only hear back if the answer is yes.
How realistic are your chances?
Each year 25 to 35 payments are awarded. The number of applicants is not published.
